Hello Blue and Yellow Classes and families!

I’m Lindley, and I am SO excited to be back teaching English in your classrooms!!!

It has been a long time since we’ve been able to enjoy English class together in person, so this year will be especially fun as I will fill your ears with English and we play together.

Moms and Dads, I will publish resources, videos and songs that we are using in the classroom so that you can continue exposing  your children to English in a natural, fun and organic way!

Please feel free to leave a comment if you have questions or doubts.  I look forward to getting to know your children and all of you as the occasion permits!

¡Hola niños y niñas de la clase azul y la clase amarilla!  ¡Hola familias!

Soy Lindley y estoy MUY emocionada de volver a enseñar inglés en clase con vosotros.

Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que pudimos disfrutar juntos de la clase de inglés en persona, por lo que este año será especialmente divertido ya que llenaré vuestros oídos con inglés y jugaremos juntos.

Mamás y papás, publicaré recursos, videos y canciones que estamos usando en el aula para que podéis seguir exponiendo a sus hijos al inglés de una manera natural, divertida y orgánica.

No dudéis en dejar un comentario si tenéis preguntas o dudas. ¡Tengo ganas de ir conociendo a vuestros hijos y hijas y a todos vosotros cuando la ocasión lo permita!

Hello parents of the Yellow class!

My name is Lindley, and I am the English teacher who normally works with your children during the school year.  Due to the exceptional circumstances of COVID19, we have limited the physical contact among the students and the number of teachers to work with our smallest treasures.  However, I will periodically be reaching out to you via the blog to provide some resources to keep English flowing in your homes!  Hopefully the songs and videos that you can play for your children in English will keep them in touch with the language during these times and we’ll be together again in the classroom very soon.

Meanwhile, welcome back to school!  We are SOOOO happy to at school, even with some modifications to our regular routines.  A very warm welcome to returning and new families!

Here are a couple of songs to start you off!  I hope the adaptation period is going smoothly! I look forward to being in touch with all of your via the comments section in the blog!

¡Hola padres de la clase amarilla!

Mi nombre es Lindley y soy la profesora de inglés que normalmente trabaja con sus hijos durante el año escolar. Debido a las excepcionales circunstancias de COVID19, hemos limitado el contacto físico entre los alumnos y el número de profesores para trabajar con nuestros más pequeños tesoros. Sin embargo, periódicamente me comunicaré con vosotros a través del blog para proporcionaros algunos recursos para que el inglés siga fluyendo en vuestros hogares. Me gustaría que  las canciones y los videos que os propongo para vuestros hijos en inglés los mantengan en contacto con el idioma durante estos momentos y estaremos juntos nuevamente en clase muy pronto.

Mientras tanto, ¡bienvenidos a la escuela! Estamos MUY felices de estar en el cole, incluso con algunas modificaciones en nuestras rutinas diarias. ¡Una muy cálida bienvenida a las familias nuevas y que regresan!

Hello families!

My name is Adriana and this year I’m going to take your little treasures to a world of fun in English. First, I want to welcome our youngest babies: «Azulitos».

During these first three weeks I have been in class with them looking how they play and how they are in contact with the other children. We have played in English with the animals and the vehicles and we have sung several songs that have accepted in a good way. For example, we sing every morning this song: «Goodmorning children song» 

¡Hola familias!

Me llamo Adriana y este año voy a acompañar a vuestros pequeños tesoros a un mundo de diversión en inglés. Lo primero, me gustaría dar la bienvenida a nuestros bebés más pequeñitos: » Los  azulitos».

Durante estas tres semanas he estado en clase con ellos viendo cómo jugaban y cómo se relacionan con otros niños. Hemos jugado en inglés con los animales y los vehículos y hemos cantado numerosas canciones que han aceptado muy bien. Por ejemplo, todas las mañanas cantamos esta canción: » Goodmorning children song»

We are in a complex process of adaptation in which they have to meet this new adult who speaks them in a language a little strange for them but, even so,  we have played with the toys, with the sand and we have spoken in English in the assembly to distribute the fruit, where «the yellows» have  asked for more fruit and to give thanks in English. I am very proud of the progress these young people are making.

Nos encontramos en un complejo proceso de adaptación en el que ellos tienen que conocer a esta nueva adulta, quien les habla en una lengua un poco extraña para ellos, pero, aún así, hemos estado jugando con los juguetes, con la arena y hemos hablado en inglés en la asamblea mientras distribuimos la fruta, donde «los amarillitos» piden más y dan las gracias en inglés. Estoy realmente orgullosa del progreso que estas personitas están haciendo. 

Os animo a que continuéis leyendo y visitando nuestro blog, donde iremos publicando todos nuestros progresos.

Back to School!

I want to say a happy «Welcome back!» to the Yellow class!  It is so lovely to see everyone again and see how much every student  has grown!  We have had English class several times now, and as we get through the adaptation period, we are getting back to routines!  We have begun to share fruit again  – mostly  apples and pears.  Some students even remembered the words from last year!

We are also beginning our study of colors starting with yellow, and learning a rainbow song to practice all our colors.

The  «W.O.W.» or «Word of the Week» is a new initiative this year.  Each week in pre-school, we will post an English word for tutors, students and all specialists to use as much as possible with the children, instead of using the Spanish equivilent.  We  started with please and thank-you, and this week the word is school!  We hope all the pre-school families will enjoy using some English words at home too, to reinforce the words  and demonstrate that language learning is natural part of life, not just something «academic» for school.

¡Quiero dar una feliz «Bienvenida de nuevo» a la clase amarilla! Estoy muy contenta de veros a todos de nuevo y de haber conocido los nuevos miembros de la clase.

Ya hemos tenido la clase de Inglés varias veces, y aunque seguimos en el periodo de adaptación, estamos volviendo a la rutina y enseñándolo a los nuevos compañeros y compañeras de la clase! Hemos vuelto a compartir la fruta de la mañana y muchos niños y niñas se han acordado de las palabras pera y manzana.

También hablamos de colores, comenzando con el color de la clase: amarillo y practicamos una canción sobre un arco iris para practicar todos nuestros colores.

«W.O.W.» o «Palabra de la semana.»

Cada semana en infantil, vamos a publicar una palabra en Inglés para que los profesores, estudiantes y todos los especialistas lo usen lo más frecuente posible con los niños, en lugar de utilizar el equivalente en español. Comenzamos con por favor y gracias, y esta semana la palabra es escuela! ¡Esperamos que todas las familias infantiles disfruten usando algunas palabras inglesas en casa también, para reforzar las palabras y demostrar que el aprendizaje de idiomas es parte natural de la vida, no sólo algo «académico» para la escuela.
