To finish term one in the Light Blue and Blue classes, we have hung up Christmas ornaments, talked about winter and continued using daily classroom language related to the patio and and winter. We finished by watching the Raymond Briggs classic «The Snowman» and talked about winter!  I am including the link here if you’d like to watch it again at home!  Have a wonderful vacation!

Para terminar el primer trimeste en las clases celeste y azul, colgamos las decoraciones de Navidad, hablamos del invierno y continuamos utilizando el vocabulario cotidiano relacionado con la clase y el patio.  Terminamos viendo el clásico de Raymond Briggs, «The Snowman.»  ¡Aquí os pongo el enlace por si queréis verlo de nuevo en casa!  Felices Fiestas!

Playing in the snow

To close out Term 1, the yellow class has been playing in imaginary snow!  We sang a song about snowflakes falling all around-on our heads, noses, and toes.  Every time we sing, the song gets a littel better as now most of the children can sing the appropriate body part at the correct time!  We have read several books about snowmen, and talked about winter clothing.  Each student even made their own snowman–below are some photos of the process and result!  We also watched the winter classic, Raymond Briggs ¨The Snowman» and discussed the adventures of the snowman and the boy!  And finally, we reviewed all of the vocabulary from this term using flashcards.

Para terminar el primer trimestre, la clase amarilla ha estado jugando en la nieve (¡aunque imaginario!) Hemos cantado sobre los copitos de nieve, y como nos cae encima de las cabezas, las narices, y los dedos de los pies.  Cada vez mas, cantamos mejor ya que la mayoria de los niños y niñas pueden decir la palabra del parte del cuerpo correctamente en el momento correcto.  Tambien leimos varios libros sobre los muñecos de nieve (a snowman) y hemos hablado de la ropa que nos ponemos en invierno.  Cada alumno/a hicieron su propio «snowman» – aqui pongo fotos del proceso y resultado de los agradables hombrecitos.  Tambien vimos el classico de Raymond Briggs «The Snowman» y hablamos de las adventuras del muñeco de nieve y del niño.  Y por ultimo, revisamos todo el vocabulario que hemos aprendido este  primer trimestre.

In the Patio

The blue class is increasingly comfortable listening to English and using vocabulary related to their daily lives at school, both inside and outside of the classroom.  After eating our fruit, usually bananas and pears, we get ready to go outside.  We go potty, put on our jackets, tie our shoes. Depending on the weather we go down the stairs, singing, “going backwards, going backwards, down we go” to the tune of Frère Jacque.  If the ground is wet, then we simply go out on the terrace.  We play with the different toys depending on the day and out location.  In the past two weeks we have had fun playing with trucks and balls, playing peek-a-boo near the slide and riding the motorcycles.

Cada vez más, los alumnos de la clase azul están cómodos escuchando inglés relacionado con las rutinas diarias de clase.  Después de tomar la fruta, normalmente peras y plátanos, nos preparamos para salir fuera.  Usamos el orinal o cambiamos de pañal, nos abrigamos y atamos zapatos.  Según el tiempo que hace, bajamos las escaleras cantando en ingles.  Si el suelo esta mojado, simplemente salimos fuera a la terraza para jugar.  Dependiendo del lugar de juego, nos toca juguetes distintos.  En las dos últimas semanas hemos jugado con los camiones y pelotas, y tambien al “cucú” alrededor del tobogán y hemos viajado en nuestras motos.

Winter, Winter Everywhere

In honor of the season, in the yellow class we are working on vocabulary related to winter.  We have discussed how winter feels: cold! and what we wear to keep warm: hats and mittens.  Last week we read a story called “Stranger in the Woods” about a snowman (who, of course, wears a hat and mittens) and is discovered by all the animals in the woods.  We are discussing cold, white snowflakes and we made mittens and decorated them with colors that we already know: yellow, blue, and green. Here are some photos of our mittens.

En honor a la temporada, en la clase amarilla estamos trabajando vocabulario relacionado con el  invierno.  Hemos hablado de cómo es winter (invierno): frio, y que ropa nos ponemos para estar calentitos: a hat and mittens (un gorro y manoplas.) Hemos leído un cuento llamado “Extraño en el Bosque” que trata de un muñeco de nieve que es descubierto por los animales del bosque.  Al vocabulario que ya sabemos, añadimos White (blanco), cold (frio), y snowflakes (copitos de nieve).Hemos hechos nuestras propias manoplas y los hemos decorado con los colores que ya sabemos: amarillo, azul, y verde.  Aquí van algunas fotos de nuestras manoplas.
