Autumn Colors

Hello!  As you may know from reading Carmen’s blog, in the Yellow class  we have spent the past three weeks learning about colors!  While there is a whole rainbow of colors to learn, we began with Autumn colors.

However, September didn’t feel very much like autumn, and it felt much more like summer, so we started learning about the color RED using  the OLIVIA story.  OLIVIA is a pig, who is as active as my «little yellows» and she likes to wear RED, so we read the story and colored her clothes RED.

After we learned RED, it was time to learn about more colors, this time Autumn colors in the correct season.  So, taking advantage of both the YELLOW class name and the YELLOW fall leaves, we began to learn our fall poem.  The two colors highlighted in this poem are YELLOW  and BROWN.   This week, we’ll add one more Autumn color to our list: ORANGE.

We will continue to practice our poem to help us prepare for the arrival of «Señor Otoño» next week.

¡Hola! Como habréis visto en el blog de Carmen, ¡en la clase  Amarilla hemos pasado las últimas tres semanas aprendiendo algunos colores! Si bien hay todo un arco iris de colores para aprender, comenzamos con los colores del otoño.

Sin embargo, septiembre no se sintió como otoño, sino como verano, así que comenzamos a aprender sobre el color ROJO usando la historia de OLIVIA. OLIVIA es una cerdita, que es tan activa como mis «pequeños amarillos» y le gusta vestirse de ROJO, así que leímos la historia y coloreamos su ropa de ROJO.

Después de aprender ROJO, aprovechamos tanto el nombre de la clase AMARILLA como las hojas de otoño AMARILLAS, y comenzamos a aprender nuestro poema de otoño. Los dos colores destacados en este poema son AMARILLO y MARRÓN. Esta semana, agregaremos un color otoñal más a nuestra lista: NARANJA.

Continuaremos practicando nuestro poema para prepararnos para la llegada del «Señor Otoño» la semana que viene.

También cantamos y bailamos para entrar en el espíritu de la temporada. Puedes escuchar en casa pinchando arriba.

In the Yellow and Blue classes we have finished introducing three answers to the question, «How are you?»

In the Yellow Class almost everyone can answer this question in words, and fortunately, the answer almost always is «I’m happy!»  We also linked colors to these emotions and the students asked for their crayon color by name as we colored yellow=happy, blue=sad, red=angry.

En las clases Amarilla y Azul hemos terminado de introducir tres respuestas a la pregunta: «¿Cómo estás?»

En la Clase Amarilla casi todo el mundo puede responder a esta pregunta con palabras, y por suerte , la respuesta casi siempre es «¡Yo soy feliz!»

También vinculamos colores con estas emociones y pedimos el color de la cera por su nombre para colorear la imagen correspondiente: amarillo = feliz, azul = triste, rojo = enfadado. Aquí hay un enlace a una canción para seguir cantando y aprendiendo acerca de las emociones en vuestras casas.

In the yellow class we are learning to identify our emotions in English.  Each day, the students respond to the question «How are you?»  and we place their face on the «Emotions train» in the correct place after the students voluntarily say, or repeat «I’m happy. I’m sad. or I’m angry.»

It is so exciting that half the class can produce an answer all by themselves!  Even those students who don’t quite remember their answer yet repeat it very clearly!  This a fantastic new level of communication together!

We have colored the corresponding face for each emotion and we sing:

En la clase amarilla estamos aprendiendo a identificar nuestras emociones en Inglés. Cada día, los estudiantes responden a la pregunta  "¿Cómo estás?" y colocamos su cara en el "tren de las emociones" en el lugar correcto.  A continuación,  los estudiantes dicen voluntariamente, o repiten "Estoy feliz . Estoy triste, o yo estoy enfadado."

Es muy emocionante que la mitad de la clase puede producir una respuesta por sí mismos! Incluso aquellos estudiantes que no recuerdan su respuesta todavía lo repiten muy claro! Este es un nuevo nivel de comunicación fantástico!

Hemos coloreado la cara correspondiente para cada emoción (amarillo-happy, azul-sad, rojo-angry) y cantamos (pinchar en el enlace arriba).
