Happy New Year!

In the Yellow class we have had a wonderful return to school.  During the first several days of class we revised the vocbaulary we learned in the first term.

We have spend the last two weeks learning about animal names and noises in English.  Here is a link to the song that we learned.

The students chose a favorite animal from the song and  colored it to make their crowns!  Here are some photos of the process!

 

Next, we are learning to explain how we feel: happy, sad, or angry.

 

Feliz Año Nuevo!

En la clase amarilla hemos tenido un maravilloso regreso a la escuela . Durante los primeros días de clase revisamos el vocabulario que aprendimos en el primer trimestre .

También empezamos a aprender los nombres de los animales y su onomatopeya en Inglés . Aquí hay un enlace a la canción que hemos aprendido y las fotos de nuestro fiesta de los animales!

Ahora estamos aprendiendo a decir como nos sentimos en Ingles: happy, sad, o angry.

«Give Mommy a Kiss!»

This past week in the yellow class we completed our discussion of family with the game «Give Mommy a Kiss.»  After reviewing the names of members of a family again, the students were told to «give Mommy a kiss» or «give baby a kiss» and stick a paper kiss on the correct picture.    It was wonderful to see that the  students almost always put the kiss on the correct family member!  Here are some photos of the experience.

 

Our next activity is to get ready for our Autumn party.  We are discussing the season, vocabulary and colors related to fall.

 

La semana pasada en la clase amarilla hemos terminado nuestro proyecto de la familia con el juego «Dale a Mami un beso.» Después de revisar los nombres de los miembros de la familia de nuevo,  di un «beso de papel» a cada alumno y les dije «darle un beso a mamá » o  «darle al bebé un beso.»  Los alumnos pegaron su beso de papel en la imagen correcta. ¡Fue maravilloso ver que los alumnos casi siempre pusieron el beso en el miembro de la familia correcta! Aquí adjunto algunas fotos de la experiencia.

Nuestra próxima actividad es para prepararnos para la fiesta de otoño. Estamos hablando de la estación, y el vocabulario relacionado (las hojas, etc.)  Además aprovechamos este tema para hablar de los colores que se ven en otoño.

Circus Clowns

In the Yellow class we have been busy preparing for the circus!  We began by reading a book about an amazing animal who wants to be in the zoo, but belongs in the circus.  Then we talked about circus animals like elephants, horses, lions and tigers.  We painted our faces as our favorite animal.

We finished our circus preparation by reviewing colors and the words «big» and «little» by making  clowns with shapes.  We learned the word «clown» and «square, circle and triangle.»  We traced our hands to make  hair.  We are looking forward to our spring Circus party!

En la clase amarilla, hemos estado preparando para el circo de la Fiesta de la Primavera.  Comenzamos este tema leyendo un libro de un animal que quiere estar en el zoo, pero debe estar en el circo.  Luego hablamos de los animales que se suele ver en un circo, los elefantes, caballos, leones y tigres.  ¡Nos pintamos de nuestro animal preferido!

Hemos terminado la preparación del circo revisando colores, y las palabras «grande y pequeño» en ingles.  Hemos hecho payasos con formas aprendiendo las palabras «clown, square, circle and triangle» (payaso, circulo, cuadrado, triangulo).  ¡Tenemos ganas de fiesta ya!

Take me out to the ball game!

It´s baseball season!  We have been learning about baseball in the yellow class.  We talked about basic vocabulary related to baseball including: a baseball, baseball glove, baseball bat, baseball cap, and baseball diamond.  We made a baseball diamond using our hands and looked at bases on the floor.  The children  learned that this is a popular American spring sport and we read a story about Wally, a team mascot who lives in a ball park.  We also have learned a popular song about baseball.  While the lyrics are still complicated for the students, they can do the motions perfectly!  Below, there is a link to the song and some photos of the class trying on baseball caps and gloves and swinging a bat.

En la clase amarilla hemos  hablado de béisbol .  Este deporte primaveral es muy popular en los EE.UU. y hemos estado aprendiendo vocabulario básico: guante, gorro, bate, diamante.  Hemos leído un cuento de una mascota que vive en un parque de béisbol.  Además hemos aprendido una canción popular.  Aunque las letras son difíciles todavía, los niños lo bailan fenomenal!  También probamos el gorro, una guante y cogimos un bate para practicar.  Aquí dejo algunas fotos y la canción.
