It’s that time of year again to enjoy Day of Languages being multilingual, or at least trying to be! Watch the video below to learn some more about this special celebration.

On September 30th, 2026, Alquería Educación celebrated Day of Languages.
First and foremost, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the participating families for providing such an engaging and enjoyable afternoon. Your contributions allowed us to immerse ourselves not only in your respective languages but also in your rich cultures and traditions. Furthermore, attendees were treated to a delightful selection of traditional culinary tastings from the regions highlighted during the presentations.
The distribution of participating countries and topics across the primary education levels was as follows:
- 1st Grade (EPO): Argentina
- 2nd Grade (EPO): Chile
- 3rd Grade (EPO): Portugal
- 5th Grade (EPO): Sign Language
- 6th Grade (EPO): Korea
In tandem with these activities, our language departments dedicated the opening weeks of the academic year to exploring the significance of the Day of Languages. Students developed a profound awareness of the importance of acquiring a foreign language. They researched insightful quotes from prominent authors regarding linguistic diversity and worked extensively on expanding their vocabulary related to countries and nationalities.
According to our students, the primary motivations for learning a foreign language include:
- Facilitating international travel.
- Conducting advanced scientific research (specifically in English).
- Comprehending instructions and narratives within video games.
- Pursuing academic opportunities abroad.
- Enhancing global communication.
- Securing superior career opportunities.
- Fostering friendships with individuals from diverse countries.
In addition to the student perspectives, cognitive research highlights further advantages of multilingualism, such as:
- Optimizing overall brain function.
- Delaying the onset of cognitive decline and dementia.
- Sharpening auditory and listening skills.
- Expanding memory capacity.
- Improving neural connectivity.
- Fostering critical thinking skills.
Watch to learn how to say country names, nationalities, and languages in English.
