In Year 1 and Year 2 we are busy talking about and applying  the rules of the class. The children in Year 1 have been making a rainbow mobile, asking for all their materials in English, which are mostly finished and hanging up in the English class. Please pass by and see them.
In Year 2 we are working on the rooms in the house – bedroom, dining room, bathroom, kitchen, living room and the days of the week, with their respective songs.
Welcome, to all new readers, and welcome back, to all readers of this English blog for parents or carers of the children in the Orange, Red and Green class in infants and Year 1 and  Year 2 in primary. Our English classes started on Monday 8 September, apart from in the Orange class, where we are just getting to know eachother. At all levels we have been working on listening skills, which come in use when learning another language. We played a series of listening games which prooved to be very popular, and encouraged a concentrated kind of listening. In Year 1 and Year 2 we are gradually moving on to enhancing the time spent communicating in English and reducing the time we spend in Spanish. It is indeed quite a challenge for both teacher and children. Presently, we have Lindley working with us for some of the English classes. Almudena returns from her maternity leave on 21 October and will be rejoining us in our English classes.
Year 2 have spent the last few days finishing off work in their notebooks and replaying some of the vocabulary and comprehension games. If you would like some tips on how to keep your children in contact with English over the long summer holidays then click on the link below.
We had a great time in Piñar and our expedition down the cave was fascinating. Back at school, we were all interested in  looking at some photos of caves together with their stalactites and stalagmites. We are just learning now about cave animals but this week has just been so short. Anyway, did you know that Mammoth cave in Kenntucky, America (see photo) is apparently the longest cave in the world, at more than 390 miles?
Year 2 are learning about describing actions, and have got into small groups to do their own versions of this rather silly song. Apologies to lovers of good music, this one won´t please you!
