The children in Year 1 were rewarded this week for their major efforts to talk in english during the class. They managed to get 25 buttons in the jar (they are awarded a  button at the end of each class if they attempt to communicate mainly in english). So the reward was go outside to play games in english. The game of stone, paper, scissors was a popular choice. We now aim to get 50 buttons in the jar. 

In Year 2 we role played a scene from Sesame Street which practices the questions and answers of «where are you?» and «what are you doing?» Also , we listened to the story of » The 3 little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig». Click below  if you would like to hear the story.
Los niños y niñas de la clase 1º fueron recompensados esta semana por sus esfuerzos para hablar en inglés durante la clase. Consiguieron meter 25 botones en el jarrón (son premiados con un botón al final de cada clase si intentan comunicarse mayoritariamente en inglés). Así que la recompensa fue ir afuera y jugar juegos en inglés. El juego de piedra, papel, tijera fue una opción popular. Nuestro objetivo ahora es conseguir 50 botones en el jarrón.
En 2º actuamos los roles de una escena de Barrio Sésamo en el que se practican las preguntas y respuestas de «¿Dónde estás?» y «¿qué estas haciendo?». También, escuchamos el cuento de «Los tres lobatos y el gran cerdo malvado». Pincha arriba si te gustaría escuchar la historia.

In the Orange class we have  been singing the song «The Wheels on the Bus» and have enjoyed the book of the song, which has all sorts of tabs to pull that make different parts of the book move, an effect that fascinates  the children. I´ve posted the song below.


In the Red class  we are revising the names of the fruit, and including a few new additions such as cherries, peach, grapes, and mango.
In the  Green class we are learning the names of the family members. This week we have focused on the owl family, which included  a  session on drawing techniques of owls, all explained in English.

En la clase naranja hemos cantado la canción «la ruedas del autobús» y hemos disfrutado ver el libro de la canción, el  cual tiene todo tipos de etiquetas para tirar, que hace que distintas partes del libro se muevan, que fascinan a los niños y niñas. La canción está puesta arriba.
En la clase roja estamos repasando los nombres de las frutas, e incluyendo unas palabras nuevas como cerezas, melocotón, uvas y mango.
En la clase verde estamos aprendiendo los nombres de los miembros de la familia. Esta semana nos hemos enfocado en la familia del búho, también incluye una sesión de técnicas para dibujarlos, todo explicado en inglés.

Year 1 have been busy shopping in the Stationery shop we made up in the English room.  They came to the shop in pairs and asked for the items, as shown in the photo below. The following dialogue was practised:

  • Hello. What do you want?
  • Can I have 2 glue sticks, please?
  • Yes, here you are.
  • Thank you.
  • You are welcome.

In Year 2 we have been talking about the position of different items in the house and the children have been occupied with the following dialogues:

  • Where is the cookie?
  • Is the cookie in the dining room?
  • Yes.
  • Is the cookie under the chair?
  • No.
  • Is the cookie on the table?
  • Yes.

We also quite enjoyed singing along to this cheery song.

En la clase de 1º hemos estado ocupado comprando en la papelería que montamos en la clase de inglés. Vinieron a la tienda en parejas y pidieron los objetos como se enseña en la foto de arriba. Practicaron el siguiente diálogo:

  • Hola. ¿Que quieres? 
  • Me puedes dar 2 barras de pegamento, por favor.
  • Si, aquí las tienes.
  • Gracias.
  • De nada.     

En la clase de 2º hemos hablado sobre la posición de los objetos en la casa y los niños y niñas han practicado el siguiente diálogo:    

  • ¿Dónde está la galleta?
  • ¿Está la galleta en el comedor?
  • Si.
  • ¿Está la galleta debajo de la silla?
  • No.
  • ¿Está la galleta encima de la mesa?
  • Si.


También disfrutamos cantando la  canción  puesta arriba.

Children in the Orange class have been learning a new song, Tommy Thumb, which is all about our fingers and their names. We´ve also danced and when the music stops we´ve gracefully turned round and sat down, calling for the music to be restarted. Together, with Carmen Jimeñez translating in Spanish, we read the story of  «Big and Small».
In the Red class we have been busy enjoying a variety of games related to the colours of the rainbow. Sorry folks, I didn´t manage to video the children performing the Rainbow song but I´ve posted a couple of  photos below.

The video below is one the children in the Green class viewed on Monday and then went on to paint their own Elmer, working in pairs. Work on spinners continued as well, culminating in the great spinner championship for half the class, to be repeated next week for the other group.

Los niños y niñas en la clase naranja han estado aprendiendo una canción nueva, sobre los dedos y sus nombres. También hemos bailado y cuando paró la música, dimos una vuelta y nos sentamos en el suelo, aclamando el reinicio de la música. Junto con Carmen Jiménez, traduciendo en español,    leímos el cuento «Grande y Pequeño».
En la clase roja hemos disfrutado con una variedad de juegos relacionados con los colores del arco iris. Lo siento, no conseguí grabar la actuación por vídeo pero he posteado un par de fotos arriba.
El vídeo arriba es uno que los niños y niñas de la clase verde vieron el lunes. Luego pintaron su propio Elmer, trabajando en parejas. El trabajo de los peonzas también continuó, culminando con el gran campeonato de peonzas para la mitad de la clase, el otro grupo lo harán la semana que viene.

In the Orange class we are singing our hello song and looking at the «Where is Spot» book together.
The Red class are enjoying the Rainbow song, using coloured pencils to act it out with a partner. I will try and video it  next week because they are making such a good job of it that it´s worth seeing.
In the Green class they have learnt a new colour song which includes actions. Also, we have been busy with making colour spinners.

En la clase naranja estamos cantando la canción de «hello» y leyendo el libro » Donde esta Spot?» .
La clase roja está disfrutando la canción del arco iris, usando lápices de colores para interpretarla con una pareja. La semana que viene intentaré grabarla por video porque  lo hacen tan bien que merecéis verlo.
En la clase verde han aprendido una canción nueva sobre los colores que incluyen las acciones. También hicimos peonzas de colores.
