Year 2: Phonics ai/ay/a-e. Getting ready for reading in English

Dear parents,

Our children are greatly improving their decoding of the English language (each one at his/her own pace). All of them are becoming more and more confident and they are deblocking the possible fears towards reading in another language they may have had before.

They feel so happy learning the «tricks». Here there are some videos to practice.

Year 1: Numbers

Dear parents,

These two weeks before the trip we are working with numbers from 1 to 100. They love to be asked numbers randomly and make their best to guess them correctly.

Here there are some videos to practice from 1 to 20, the most «changing» ones.

Orange Class, Red Class and Green Class: Preparing the visit to the farm

Dear parents,

I make this post with the purpose to get the children involved in their learning and practicing vocabulary. These past weeks we have been preparing for their different trips to the countryside. Although the topic is the same, the activities and resources are different according to the levels and class.

Orange class: songs, books…relate to the topic. Discrimination and drawing. Getting to know the sounds.

Red class: books, songs, interpretation, baby animals and sounds the they make. Let’s draw a farm!

Green class: role plays, vocabulary, songs, drawing, description of animals and guessing «Who is Who?» (but with animals). Introduction of English sounds and blending sounds to guess the word.

Next week we will prepare our suitcase with the right clothes and objects.

Year 2: » The Girl Who Wanted to Escape her Page»

Dear parents,

This week we have been working the topic of inmigration, refugees and war throughout this wonderful book called «The Girl Who Wanted to Escape her Page».

I have tried to make them understand the importance of human beings above it all and how we have to take their possition as to feel their solitude and desperation. What a great heart and comprehension they have.!!!!Congratulations to all of them. 4 huge collective posters show their will to make gates which permit entering different pages if they do not like theirs. (As a huge methafore of borders between all the different countries).

Then we read the words we learnt from the book and we are going to create our own notebook about he page we want to espape from and the reasons why.
